
The Youth Environment Council of South
Australia represents young people from across the State.
Delegates range in age from 10 to 21 and represent every state
School District, Catholic Education, Independent schools and
peak youth organisations.
The YEC was formed in November 1997 by the Minister for
Education, and Minister for Environment with the purpose to:

provide advice to the
Government on the environmental perspectives of young
people

support young South
Australians in being active in caring for the environment
The objectives are to:

promote awareness of
environmental issues in South Australia

assist and complement
environmental education programs
-
communicate with young
people through a range of media, including a quarterly
newsletter and the Internet
Contact
them to share ideas, activities and actions and
better represent young people's views in the discussions they
have with the Ministers
